Kampala University opened its doors to the pioneer students on 16th-02-1999 under the Leadership of the able Founding Vice-Chancellor Owek.Amb.Al-haj.Prof.Dr.Badru D Kateregga in the premises currently hosting K.I.U in Kansanga . But due to some problems, the Institution relocated in 2000 to Ggaba for a better working environment.
By then, the biggest number of students were Kenyans, followed by Ugandans but as per now it has more than 15000 students from different nationalities.
Kampala University is a Private Chartered secular Institution of Higher learning that has existed for 18 years since 1999. With its lake view Campus located at Ggaba -Kawuku lane, With branches in Luwero (Nakyewa), Jinja (Iganga Highway), Masaka (New Kkumbu), Mutundwe (Kigagga Zone),Old Kampala, Juba , The East African University Kitengela in Nairobi-Kenya and East African University Rwanda –Nyagatare Eastern province.
The Kampala University aim is to become an exemplary institution of higher learning of first choice in both academic and technical excellence and specialized research in support and advancement of frontiers of knowledge and skills. Also to transmit quality knowledge, conduct research and provide community service to Uganda, the East and Central African sub region and the world at large.
